In South Sudan, conflict has been a longstanding issue, with intercommunal violence further aggravating the displacement crisis. By 2025, it is projected that 9.3 million people in South Sudan will require humanitarian aid, with 7.7 million at risk of food insecurity during the lean season. This growing number of refugees places immense pressure on the nation, increasing the risk of disease outbreaks and widespread malnutrition.
Every number represents a real person, a life filled with pain and endurance. Each child has a name. Each mother has a story. Each father holds hope in his heart for a better tomorrow. We see the mothers who boil leaves to quiet their children’s hunger. We meet fathers who give up their share of food so their families can survive another day.
In areas where human rights camps offer stronger protection and improved care for families, hope continues to rise despite years of hardship. Across both nations, hunger has become a daily reality. Malnutrition among children has reached alarming levels. Mothers walk for hours under the burning sun to find a handful of food. In Khartoum and Omdurman, destroyed infrastructure has left entire neighborhoods without clean water or basic medical care. In South Sudan’s border towns like Renk and Malakal, our teams witness the arrival of countless refugees, exhausted and sick. Clinics overflow, and children suffer from preventable diseases such as diarrhea and respiratory infections.
Our mission is to reach them with food, clean water, and healthcare. We are delivering food packages, constructing water wells, and deploying mobile health units to treat those who have no access to clinics.
